cook book updates…

Oh my it’s been a while since I’ve posted an entry! I used to worry endlessly when I would lose track of posting on the blog, but I think and hope that everyone who reads this is OK with the randomness that comes with life from time to time. I’ve been busy with planning for the new store in Shirlington, teaching classes at Silver Spring, and launching the Cupcake Bar at Love Café. Now that I have a moment of silence, on with the updates and posts.

The CakeLove cookbook is marching toward publication. I’ve signed with Stuart, Tabori, and Chang publishers and it’s due for release in early 2008. We’ve started taking photos and I’m having a good time with it. I can’t wait for it to be out to share the recipes, the way I approach baking from scratch, how I like to have fun in the kitchen! This will be an exciting cook book on cakes, buttercreams, pastry creams, meringues and more. It’ll take after the cakes at CakeLove—even featuring some of our favorites at the bakery—so it’s only appropriate that it will be called “CakeLove”.

Of course I’ll have to have a book tour once the book is released and as many book signing events as possible so I can meet bakers from all across America who enjoy baking and want to learn more. I think that everyone can bake from scratch if they have the right tools and the best approach. What I really want to do on the book tour is bake with people who love cake! If you have a great idea for a baking demo location just let me know and we’ll set it up for next year!
